Scam questions
How do I know if a text message is a scam?
Warning signs: urgency ("your account will be closed today"), a link to a website that is not the real company address, a request for a code, payment, gift cards or remote access, or a message from an unknown number claiming to be a family member. If unsure, do not click. Text us a screenshot and we will tell you.
Someone called saying my computer has a virus. What should I do?
Hang up. Microsoft, Telstra, NBN Co and your bank never call out of the blue to fix your computer. Never let a caller install remote-access software. If you already did, turn the computer off, call your bank and book a Scam & Virus Clean-up.

I think I have been scammed. Who should I contact?
Call your bank first using the number on your card. Then report it to Scamwatch (scamwatch.gov.au) and, for identity theft, contact IDCARE on 1800 595 160. We can secure your devices and accounts.
